Giveaway: SF Pen Show Swag Kit

I’ve got a goodie pack to giveaway today. From the SF Pen Show, I was able to collect a few truly unique items. First, a very limited Inky Dreams (my original pattern design) Rickshaw single pen sleeve lanyard along with a Rickshaw exclusive SF Pen Show sticker.

Also included in the giveaway is a kit from Sakura of America which includes a cloth zipper pouch, a pocket notebook full of doodle ideas and play pages, a set of three Micron pens and an exclusive Micron enamel pin.

TO ENTER: Leave a comment below and let me know if you’ve been to a pen show this year and which one. If not, tell me if you would ever go to a show and which one. Play along and type in something. It makes reading through entries more interesting for me, okay? One entry per person.

If you have never entered a giveaway or commented on the site before, your comment must be manually approved by our highly-trained staff of monkeys before it will appear on the site. Our monkeys are underpaid and under-caffeinated so don’t stress if your comment does not appear right away. Give the monkeys some time.

FINE PRINT: All entries must be submitted by 10pm CST on Thursday, September  5, 2024. All entries must be submitted at wellappointeddesk.com, not Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram or Facebook, okay? Winner will be announced on Monday. Winner will be selected by random number generator from entries that played by the rules (see above). Please include your actual email address in the comment form so that I can contact you if you win. I will not save email addresses or sell them to anyone — pinky swear. If winner does not respond within 5 days, I will draw a new giveaway winner. Shipping via USPS first class is covered. Additional shipping options or insurance will have to be paid by the winner. We are generous but we’re not made of money. US and APO/AFO only, sorry.

  1. I have not been to a pen show this year…life has gotten in the way.
When I am able to, it is going to be either – or both – the one in Portland and the one in Seattle.

  2. I’ve never been to a pen show before. I’d love to go to the Raleigh one, since I hear it’s smaller and less overwhelming. I’m mostly happy with my pen collection and definitely have too much ink, but the classes at these pen shows sound utterly amazing.

  3. I attended the SF PEN Show (my first…of many I hope). Truly, a memorable weekend! Hundreds of inks, pens, journals, pen boxes, leather cases, nibs, and stickers (and more) on display. Mind blown. All of this amid a tremendous crowd of friendly and very knowledgeable pen fans from all over the world. I talked ‘pen talk’ to my heart’s content last weekend. (Best part) Looking ahead to 2025’s Pen Show schedule…. Thank you, Ana!

  4. This was not my first show, but one of the (pink) highlights was meeting Ana in person and sharing some stories. I now have my own creative Friday session with a “Fun but no category “. Thanks for all you do.

  5. I’d dearly love to go to the Atlanta Pen Show since it’s local-ish to me but life and labor keep conspiring to keep me away. One day!

  6. I want to take my boys to the Ohio pen show. It will be our first. Plus there is a stationery store to check out while there.

  7. I would love to go to a pen show. I’ve never been, but they interest me greatly. San Francisco would be my first choice, but I’m more likely to get to St. Louis or Dallas.

  8. I’ve only been to the San Francisco pen show this and last year. Both times it felt overwhelming, but this year I met up with some FP people which was fun. It would be a dream to go to the Tokyo International Pen Show (and to go to Japan in general)!

  9. The only pen show I’ve been to is the Atlanta Pen Show, but I’ve been there for the last three years. Maybe some day I’ll get out of town for another one! Your swag looks great.

  10. Unfortunately, I have not been to a pen show this year. I think that the 2019 Atlanta Pen Show was the last one that I attended. If I could go, I would love to attend the DC Supershow!

  11. Yes – we went to Atlanta and the Triangle Pen Show. Hoping to attend SF in 2026! Thanks for doing the giveaway.

  12. Two pens shows in two years: Pacific Northwest and San Francisco. That last one may have hooked me: budget blew up after the first day and I am raring to see the next one: California Pen Show and, fingers crossed, nibmeister Jose Munuera.

  13. I’m relatively new to pen shows and have gone to the SF one a few times (had to miss this year’s due to work, unfortunately). It’s such wonderful fun seeing the exhibitor list fill up and all the folks who travel from so far away to showcase their work — I would otherwise not be able to try even a tiny percentage of the cool things I see there, and it is a highlight of the year (I definitely plan my budget with room in mind for the show in August).

  14. I’ve not been yet, but St. Louis is on the agenda; that’s the closest one, I grew up there, and I’ve heard so many good things about it despite being a smaller show. SF is on the long term plan sometime too!

  15. I have never been to a pen show, but after reading about pen shows here and elsewhere, I want to go in the future. Probably the DC show since I live in Virginia.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  16. I usually attend the SF Pen Show but had to miss it this year due to a bad foot. I have been living vicariously however, thanks to all the great blog and IG posts on the show.

  17. Also never been to a pen show! I have family in PDX so I’m hoping to time a family visit with the next show. Thank you for your generosity!

  18. I have not been to a pen show this year. I’ve only been able to make one pen show, the second Denver Pen Show. It was a lot of fun. I’d love to go to Denver again, or DC, SF, Atlanta, or Chicago.

  19. I’ve never been to a pen show. I would love if there was a pen show in Salt Lake City so I could just drive there or St. Louis so I could combine it with a trip to the military archives.

  20. The closest I have gotten to a pen show, is an interstate trip to Anderson Pens. With the mix of modern and vintage, it is almost like a pen show!

  21. I’ve never been to a pen show, but if I could ever attend one it would be the DC pen show because I could drive there.

  22. I have never been to a pen show but I recently moved to a city that will have a pen show in October! I’m very excited to go even though I’m not quite sure what I’ll be looking for. I love cute notebooks with great paper and great pens. Yaaay

  23. A haiku…
    Ink and paper call,
    Unseen treasures lie in wait—
    Dreams of pen shows drift.

Never been to a pen show!

  24. I’ve never been but if I had to go, it’d be the Ohio Pen Show, as that’s my local one. Would love to become a member of the Black Pen Society and just see all the inky goodness!

  25. I went to the 2024 SF Pen Show as I live in a retail desert. Going to this show is akin to going to Disneyland. It was overwhelming and fun. Then, to add to the excitement, I met you at the Vanness table and realized that you were a celebrity by your pink hair. Finding fountain pen friendly notebooks was scream worthy because there are only Targets and Office Depots around these parts. Getting a nice fountain pen and some pretty ink is not much fun when there ain’t no decent paper on which to put my chicken scratch. For the moment, while that stash lasts, the stars and the planets are aligned.

  26. I’ve never been to a pen show, but I would like to! Los Angeles would be most likely (closest), but a trip to San Francisco would be fun!

  27. I’ve only ever gone to the St. Louis pen show, but I’d like to go to either Baltimore or Chicago next year. San Francisco would be fun though! Maybe one day.
