Well-Appointed Holiday Giveaway

This year it seems appropriate to give a little back to our fabulously supportive readers. In the spirit of giving, I am giving away ONE (1) $50 spending spree to either our Big Cartel OR Etsy shop. (That’s right our international readers can enter this one too.)

TO ENTER: Leave a comment telling me (1) either what you have always wanted to buy from our shop or (2) how you are “paying it forward” this holiday. Play along and type in something. It makes reading through entries more interesting for me, okay? One entry per person.

If you have never entered a giveaway or commented on the site before, your comment must be manually approved by our highly-trained staff of monkeys before it will appear on the site. Our monkeys are underpaid and under-caffeinated so don’t stress if your comment does not appear right away. Give the monkeys some time.

FINE PRINT: All entries must be submitted by 10pm CST on Friday December 10, 2021. All entries must be submitted at wellappointeddesk.com, not Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook, okay? Winner will be announced on Monday. Winner will be selected by random number generator from entries that played by the rules (see above). Please include your actual email address in the comment form so that I can contact you if you win. I will not save email addresses or sell them to anyone — pinky swear. If winner does not respond within 5 days, I will draw a new giveaway winner. Shipping via USPS first class is covered. Additional shipping options or insurance will have to be paid by the winner. We are generous but we’re not made of money. US and APO/AFO only, sorry.

  1. I love the rubber stamps that say “Letter Enclosed” and “Write More Letters” as I have pen pals that would enjoy seeing their envelopes decorated with these. Oh, and that “The Cats That Run The Desk” is adorable. I’d like to buy that too.

  2. I would get a Col-o-ring and Ink Sample Vial ruber stamp for myself, D20 coasters for friends, and probably a Cauldron and Wand notepad or two … just becase.

  3. I think I’m finally going to get a Col-o-Ring! And some stamps, if I win. 🙂 I also want to get something for my sister who’s diving into journalling and stationery!

  4. I would love to pay this forward. There is a neighbor who has a young son and I had planned to introduce him to the world of pens and cursive, so this would be a great way to start that process.

  5. I have been drooling over the Dinosaur Notepads for quite a while so that’s what I’d like to buy from your shop!

  6. As a cat-owning knitter and fp addict I’ve been admiring all your rubber stamps for a long time!

  7. I’m going to move out of my family’s place soon and I have always adored some of these coasters..

  8. I would pay it forward by taking your underpaid and overworked monkeys to lunch before a bit of Etsy shopping!

  9. Hello! I would gift the Rebel Plans and Imperial Orders to one of my Star Wars friends, and have you send it to them directly! Thanks so much for your generosity!

  10. I have the privilege to hang out with a marvelous bunch of makers online, and this time of year we go crazy… I have secretly made donations to my friend’s favorite charities, and sent them items from wishlists just to brighten their day. It’s feel-good season!

  11. As many of your rubber stamps as I could to make sure my pen-pals receive originally decorated envelopes.

As to pay it forward, someone wanted to buy a pen from me and I ended up giving them that pen, a bunch of other items including a Col-o-ring-dipper. ‘TIS the season

  12. Hello, Ana and Crew

I have always been a big fan of your letter-centric rubber stamps… which in my mind, include the pen and ink centric stamps as well, as, I wouldnt write a letter without a pen or ink, and stamps (postage variety).

I hope you and the crew continue to prosper,

    Happy Holidays!

    Mary in Delaware

  13. I’ve always wanted to buy a bunch of the ink bottle cards and use them as postcards or notes for pen friends.

  14. There are so many cool stamps on your site. I love having stamps for letters and needless to say it’s more reasons to write a letter.
My pay it forward every holiday is donating a meal to two to a local charity or the restaurant (Feast here in Tucson) that has been delivering meals to a lot of homes for disadvantaged folks. It’s been their way to keep employees at work and help the community. They rock.

  15. What a great giveaway, thanks! I’ve been wanting to get the Col-O-Ring and some of your cool rubber stamps. I’m not exactly paying it forward I guess as much as maybe penabling. I’ve been at my dream job for a little over a year now and my colleagues and supervisor have been so good to me. I got my 2 coworkers Lamy Safari ltd ed ballpoint pens and my supervisor a Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen with a Rhodia pad. I hope they love them. Nancy

  16. Woo-Hoo really want to meet the highly trained monkeys! Actually I am running out of Col-o-ring cards and you keep making cool pads of old typing paper. Really it wouldn’t last long.

  17. Ooh! Yay! Thank you.

Paying forward the fountain pen love, specifically, by giving pens and inks to my friend/neighbor who recently fell down the FP rabbit hole. She got someone else interested, too. Fun to see the chain!

I’d really enjoy a bunch of the rubber stamps (write more letters, good mail, classique ink bottle, allll the pen nib ones) and a Col-o-ring!

  18. I just placed an order last week, but I was forced to choose between several stamps that I wanted, so I’d probably add on a couple of the “postal service/snail mail” stamps, one or more of the nib stamps, and some more Col-o-Ring supplies to motivate me to get cracking on swatching the rest of my ink stash!

  19. I’ve always wanted to get a Col-o-ring book. I swatch my ink on plain index cards but it’s a sloppy system and the paper is abysmal. Time to give my inks the testing system they deserve!

  20. So hard to choose! Last year I bought the Star Wars notepads for a family member, who enjoys using them. For me, I think I want one of the rubber stamps

  21. I have always loved and wanted to buy No. 9 Vintage Air Mail Envelopes. They are so fun and nostalgic! I am a nurse (RN) so I feel like I have been paying it extra forward for over a year but regardless I am volunteering with my son to help out at a local Christmas for Kids organization helping buy, wrap and porch deliver to families in need.

  22. I love the ink bottle and Cats Run the Desk stamps!
I’m paying it forward by making presents and going shopping with my granddaughter to get toys for Toys for Tots. We’ve done it every year except for last year, which was a rain wreck.

  23. I’ve always liked your unique rubber stamps especially the ink bottle rubber stamp. The Col-o-Ring is also something I’ve seen here that I’ve found interesting.

  24. I have been wanting to pick up some Col-o-ring books! Maybe this will be the year I finally do.

  25. I send lots of snail mail so I am interested in all the mail-related rubber stamps that is in your shop.

  26. I paid it forward just last week by sending a Schon P6 on to its new home. I’d received the pen in a FPD giveaway, so I surprised someone in need of a P6 with a free pen and matching Rickshaw sleeve. I only asked that he, too, pay it forward when the time comes.

  27. NOT TODAY, SATAN is my dream. Paying it forward by actively participating in our neighborhood’s Buy/Sell Nothing group. And, will be giving lots of ink samples to a teen FP addict…

  28. Some more of your gorgeous stationery-themed stamps, of course! have a happy holiday season and thanks for including your international fans!

  29. Your rubber stamps are so cute. I especially like the Deliverator postal pigeon. I think her name should be Hazel the Carrier Pigeon. The carrying it forward part would be the decorated envelopes I send.

  30. Have been eying the Do or Do Not notepad and The Bird & Moka Pot stamps. Also just discovered the Nibologist coasters…

  31. I enjoy the unique stamps your Big Cartel shop offers. This year I am paying it forward by serving the homeless in my area Christmas dinner. I have also made take away packs with socks, bathroom essentials (travel size), and a small fleece blanket.

  32. One thing? I am enchanted by the ink bottle stamps! I love my colo-ring, and think it would be a fun addition!

  33. Paying it forward: well… I contribute handwritten letters through the More Love campaign. They’re letters every month to people in need of uplifting. This is a somewhat selfish way to pay forward the love and connection I have, as I love to write letters.

I do volunteer work in our local food bank, taking donated food donated in bulk by various companies and dividing it into smaller portions to include in food boxes for families having a hard time. The most fun was diving an enormous pallet-sized bag of frozen peas, and scooping peas into smaller bags and sealing them.

Also, though I’m not sure this is genuine paying it forward – I’m an enthusiastic penabler.

Many times I’m in a drive-thru, and there’s an old, beat up car behind me. I’m a fan of paying for my order and theirs.

  34. Ooo, I just bought two stamps from you—a ball of yarn and an Erlenmeyer. I’d fill out my collection with a beaker, a popsicle, an ink bottle, and more star chart notecards, which I have run out of. I’m paying it forward with lots of Christmas cookies

  35. My friend has a collage age son who just got into fountain pens. I’m giving him ink and a pen to pay it forward to a new pen lover. It should be an interesting Christmas!

  36. I am paying it forward by giving Jin Hao shark pens to lifeguards and swim coaches – then they can enter the lovely world of fountain pens if they so desire, plus they will no longer need to use communal pens.

  37. The moka pot stamp and the short ink bottle stamp would find themselves nicely at home on my desk. I’d also get another set of the dino notepads for my daughter (I bought some at the last Pelikan Hub two years ago in KC for her and they were a hit!)

  38. I’d love some more of your rubber stamps! Paying it forward by adopting a family in need and showering them with gifts. We do this every year at my job, it’s so fun!

  39. I feel like the question would be – is there anything in your shop I wouldn’t want to buy? 🙂 but I think I’d get the not today satan/yes today satan prints, and put them back to back so that I could flip them depending on mood. 🙂
