Giveaway: Col-o-ring Quirky Editions

I was planning to give these “quirky edition” Col-o-rings away at the D.C. Pen Show but I never found the perfect opportunity so I decided that the best way to do it was to offer them here on the blog. I have two (2) of these quirky editions available.  The only difference is the covers which are misprints but I thought they were pretty cool so I thought you all might like them. The books include the same 100 sheets of 100lb/160gsm as a regular  Col-o-ring.

THE RULES: Leave a comment below and tell me what your favorite ink color is or the first color you will swatch.

FINE PRINT: All entries must be submitted by 10pm CST on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. All entries must be submitted at wellappointeddesk.com, not Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook, okay? Winner will be announced on Thursday. Winner will be selected by random number generator from entries that played by the rules (see above). Please include your REAL email address in the comment form so that I can contact you if you win. I will not save email addresses or sell them to anyone — pinky swear. If winner does not respond within 7 days, I will draw a new giveaway winner. Shipping via USPS first class is covered. Additional shipping options or insurance will have to be paid by the winner. We are generous but we’re not made of money. US addresses only please.

  19. My favorite color at the moment is Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine. It would be fun to see what it looks like on a Col-o-ring.

  24. Cool giveaway! First ink I’d swatch is Noodler’s Texas Bluebonnet, which I think is currently exclusive to Dromgoule’s in Houston.

  26. I don’t have much experience with ink colors so for now I must say Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue is very nice.

  27. You nailed it in your picture – Monteverde Olivine ink. That’s what I use for signing legal documents. (Lamy Safari 1.5mm nib)

  32. My favorite ink (right now) is Iroshizuku Ku-jaku, but I’m looking forward to swatching my new bottles of Noodler’s Liberty’s Elysium and KWZ Honey.

  34. Thank you for the givewaway! The first ink I will swatch will be Robert Oster Fire & Ice, because I am obsessed with its shading right now.

  36. It would have to be a coin toss between Blackstone Barrier Reef and Robert Oster Bondi Blue.

  39. My favorite color(s) is split between Parker Penman Emerald Green which has been my preferred signature and personal note ink since it came out in the early 90’s. Fortunately I was able to buy a half a dozen bottles of it shortly after it was discontinued around 2001 and one or two more since but I am sadly down to my last bottle and quarter unless I find some more at a reasonable price. My favorite everyday writing ink is old school Waterman IG Blue-Black which I have using since I was in the Third grade when I learned how to write cursive using a fountain pen many years ago. The first color I would swatch woul be the bottle of Organic Studio Thoreau Walden Pond I just ordered.

  40. I think I’ll swab Emerald of Chivor first. It’s one of my favorites though I’m still pretty new to fountain pens.

  41. Noodler’s Baystate Blue! Love it or hate it, you have to admit it’s a very striking color.

    I’ll probably swatch the inks I get at the SF Pen Show first. ^_^

  50. Hi Ana, my current favorite ink color is, AND my first swatch would be Sailor Jentle Ultramarine. I have been wanting to try out your Col-o-rings!! Fingers crossed

  52. I’m not sure what my favourite colour is, there are so many wonderful ones to choose from, but I like bright blues so will swatch some of those first.

  54. Nice giveaway, a good way to rake advantage of a misprint! I’ve been looking for a really pleasing dark blue, so I’ll start by working through the blues I have. Diamine Sargasso Sea to start.

  56. I have Monteverde amethyst and green. I think I will get a bottle or orange or ????. Not sure. Pink? I love misprints. Wow! Fernando mentioned Diamine Sargasso Sea. Sounds like a beautiful ink.

  57. My favorite ink color is Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki, and this is definitely the first color that I will swatch.

  58. Right now I’m gaga over the grey inks…especially Montblanc Oyster Grey.
    I’ve just purchased four of Platinum Mix-Free ink colors to play with! As a fine artist, I never use color right out of the tube, but always mix exactly what I want. Now I can do it with ink! Your swatches will be perfect to write down my color recipe!

  60. Waterman Tender Purple is my favorite. I ordered 26 purple samples from Goulet’s Sample sale, so I have plenty to swab.

  61. I would swatch about 15 inks immediately. I recieved about that many from Goulet sample sale. My first would likely be Diamond Oxblood or Ancient Copper.

  65. Favorite color is currently Noodler’s 54th Mass. Though, the first color I’d swatch is the first color I get after I fill my current Col-O-Ring!

  67. My favorite ink … that’s a tough one. Right now, it would be a three-way tie between Organics Studio Nitrogen Royal Blue, Diamine Purple Pazzazz and J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor. Thanks for the giveaway!

  71. My favorite ink (currently) is Diamine Soft Mint. I got J Herbin Vert Reseda without sampling, and still like the Diamine Soft Mint better. I should have got samples when the Goulets brought back Inksamplooza. But I didn’t.

  72. I love Fire & Ice. It’s generally subtle enough that I can use it at work but it adds a little something to my meeting notes!

  76. My all-time favorite ink color has to be Diamine Flamingo Pink–it’s such a fun vibrant pink, with enough variation between different pens and papers that I never seem to get bored.

  78. J. Herbin Amethyste de l’Oural Ink – 1798 Collection. It’s waiting in my wishlist! Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

  80. The first color I want to ink swatch is Pilot Iroshizuku Bottled Fountain Pen Ink, Yama-Budo, Crimson Glory Vine, Purple Red.

  85. Right now my favorite ink color is Franklin Christoph Black Forest. The first ink I would swatch is the Organics Walden Pond I picked up in DC and still haven’t unpacked).

  87. I would swatch the J. Herbin Caroube de Chypre because that’s the only way I’d be able to enjoy this beautiful ink. It has clogged up every pen I’ve tried it with!

  88. The first color I would swatch is Organics Studio Nitrogen Royal Blue. I’ve heard a lot about it but want to try it for myself.

  89. My current favorite ink is Sailor Jentle Ink Fuji-Musume (Wisteria Purple). I love it. It really grew on me over time. I started off thinking it was too light, but I really love it for my summer palate.

  90. I recently got a J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor sample, so I’d probably swatch that first. It’s a really lovely color. One of these days I’ll have to try some of the Robert Oster inks, since they have some of that sheen, but without the glitter.

  92. I have a couple samples of the Platinum iron galls that recently came out and will be fun to swatch!

  94. My favourite colour at the moment is Iroshizuku Syo-Ro. It was my first sample, first ink in my pen and still my most favourite of all 🙂

  98. My favourite ink right now, and the first one I’ll swatch is Private Reserve Ebony Blue.

  101. My favorite ink color is Finetec gold. It is the first color that I started with and it is still my favorite.

  103. I’m torn between swatching Noodler’s BLUE NOSE BEAR and GENERAL OF THE ARMIES, or Diamine’s Eau de Nil…. but I feel the first swatch should be the high prince of radiant blues, Chivor Emerald, created by Napoleon’s ink maker, J. Herbin. Thanks so much.

  111. My favorite green-leaning blue ink color is usagiya (by Sailor) #005 Setouchi Marine Blue. My favorite neutralized orange (slightly burnt-ish orange) ink color is Bung Box (by Sailor) Omaezaki no yu-yake. My favorite spring green ink color is Diamine Meadow. OK I’ll stop now. 😎
