I’m loving reclaimed wood or deep stained wood desks lately. Whether the look is rustic, mid-century or ladylike, I love them all. Maybe its a desire to have a work surface that’s not made of MDF or faux wood veneer.

Is your desk wood, metal or some other material? Are you thinking about upgrading?
Very nice. Not a dog in the bunch. Although, a builder once told me; “Wood is what you burn. Timber is what your build with.” Nothing beats a wooden desk. Although, those cool industrial metal desks from the 1940s run a very close second. But I think the drawers would screech like crazy after 70 years of opening and closing.
Love the desks! My desk is from IKEA and I had a piece of glass cut to fit the top as it is white and I work with inks and paints and needed a way to keep it clean. My stamp room is my favorite room in my home and a place of retreat and relaxation for me. (I did it in a Paris theme, so I can put all my Eiffel Towers in one room!)
I built my desk out of recycled pallets. I have the same aversion to MDF.
Truly, what is it about other people’s work spaces that is so intriguing. I just love to see how people organize themselves – kitchen, office, studio. We’re getting our landscaping redone so I will finally get the ‘prison’ wall outside the huge window in my office greened up. Like living enclosed in a NYC apartment building without the benefits of the theatre and museums.
Wood is the best and reclaimed wood is even better than the best. We were lucky enough to score a reclaimed wood dining room table and I LOVE it. Great post.
