I’m not at all as enthusiastic about ballpoints as the announcer in this video but it is interesting to see how much work is put into making the Bic Cristal ballpoint pen.The beginning of the video paints fountain pens in a very poor light indeed.

I’m not saying these are better than fountain pens. I’m not even saying these are better than rollerballs. I’m just saying that for $4 a dozen, these pens are pretty smooth and reliable. Kinda like a Ticonderoga pencil; they’re solid performers for the price you pay. 😀

I would never assume you agreed with the commentary. Was just tickled with the way they represented both pencils and fountain pens — both of which I grab far more often than a ballpoint.
fun — how did they do all that in the 40s and 50s, with parts finished to the micron level?
