I’m just wondering if is this not just a fancy glue gun with a narrow nozzle?
One of the videos I saw of the 3Doodler did suggest that the technology was not far removed from a hot glue gun. Indeed they took the concept of the glue gun and filled it with a polymer plastic instead of an adhesive and used a finer nozzle. Pretty clever!

Hmmm I’m going to have a nose about the Chemistry Dept at work and see if they have any polmers that I could try in my glue gun >3
